I think that the releationship between the trainers and the pokemons is more closer to feudalism than to capitalism, because of the strong bonds.

Fabulous stuff! It's great when you find something like this that makes what was initially thought to be a tricky concept click perfectly into place! And bringing pokemon into it... FIVE STARS!!!

Ahhhk, Thanks this was useful. :) I now feel sorry for the Pokemon, I think they should get Pokemansions for all the hard work they do :)

Love how this is broken down--I'm a teacher and will definitely use this to help my students understand Marxist criticism. Thanks!

Except---when Charizard is freed in the anime series, and the Safari Zone, and also I think in the later series your pokemon can run wild/disobey you if you "spoil" them, or mistreat them somehow, or outsource their upbringing

I wonder how these would factor into a Marxist analysis. I really don't know that much about social/economic theory, certainly not enough to interpret these finer points of the game/exceptions to general rules above from a Marxist perspective.

Thank you for taking the time to explain Marx's theory. This was so helpful in understanding the material of the text.

I think you are missing a clearly present element of the struggle between owner and worker. If two owners trade Pokemon, particularly those of quite disparate level, it is possible in the regular playthrough for an owner to have a Pokemon disregard orders frequently. A level 54 Pokemon that was caught by another trainer will disregard or reinterpret a trainer's orders if they only possess 4 badges.

This is a case corner situation, but those can often be quite illuminating.

My anaconda don't, my anaconda don't
My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hun
Boy toy named Troy used to live in Detroit
Big dope dealer money, he was gettin' some coins
Was in shootouts with the law, but he live in a palace
Bought me Alexander McQueen, he was keeping me stylish
Now that's real, real, real
Gun in my purse, bitch, I came dressed to kill
Who wanna go first? I had them pushing daffodils
I'm high as hell, I only took a half a pill
I'm on some dumb shit, by the way, what he say?
He can tell I ain't missing no meals
Come through and fuck him in my automobile
Let him eat it with his grills and he tellin' me to chill
And he telling me it's real, that he love my sex appeal
Say he don't like 'em boney, he want something he can grab

@nickewbank- A breath mint is a type of candy primarily consumed to freshen the smell of one's breath, by masking offensive odors with the scent of mint or other flavoring, and by stimulating the flow of saliva to help remove food and bacterial debris from the mouth.
